OCULOPLASTIC SURGERY

OVERVIEW
Oculoplastic surgery, also called oculoplastics, refers to surgical procedures that improve the form and function of the eye, and treat conditions that affect the eye socket (orbit), eyelids, tear ducts, and the periocular face. Oculoplastic surgeons also focus on the reconstruction of the eyelids and its associated structures.

WHEN IS OCULOPLASTIC SURGERY INDICATED?

Oculoplastic surgery is indicated to treat eye conditions such as drooping eyelids, abnormal position of the eyelids, blocked tear ducts, orbital fractures and tumours of the eyelid skin and orbit, to name a few. Even though oculoplastic surgery is medically indicated and necessary, many people choose to undergo oculoplastic surgery for cosmetic reasons.

FAQ

1Is eyelid surgery safe?
Like any surgery, eyelid surgery is not without risk. Our specialists will take great care to minimise pain, swelling and infection. You will be prescribed post-surgery medication to assist with any discomfort after surgery.
2What are the possible side effects of fillers?
Side effects may include an allergic reaction, redness, puffiness, small red dots at the injection site and bruising. Although generally very safe, fillers have been reported to cause vision problems in rare cases and thus should only be administered by an experienced clinician.
