Run by a team of experienced, driven specialist ophthalmologists, the practice scope encompasses general ophthalmology, paediatric ophthalmology and ocular oncology.

DR ANESU MADIKANE
Dr Anesu Madikane obtained her medical degree (MBChB) from Stellenbosch University in 2010. She later went on to specialize in ophthalmology at the University of Pretoria where she was employed as a specialist in training at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and Kalafong Hospital between 2016 and 2021.
During her specialist training she obtained a Diploma and Fellowship in Ophthalmology from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Ophthalmology from University of Pretoria. She then ventured into private practice whilst working as a consultant ophthalmologist at Tshwane District Hospital.
Dr Madikane is actively involved in ophthalmology societies both locally and internationally. She is the previous vice chair of the ophthalmological society of South Africa’s young ophthalmology group (OSSA YO) for the 2021/2022 term and the current president of the African Ophthalmology Council’s Young Ophthalmologists forum. She is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a graduate of the academy’s prestigious leadership development program in their graduating class of 2024.
Dr Madikane has a special interest in cataract and refractive surgery. She has completed the world-renowned Forefront refractive surgery course hosted in London, by the London Vision Clinic and is currently pursuing a fellowship in refractive surgery with the refractive surgery alliance under The World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences.
Apart from her academic interests, Dr Madikane is passionate about eradicating preventable blindness on the African continent through outreach cataract surgery campaigns. These campaigns take volunteer surgeons and mobile equipment to communities that would not otherwise have access to eye care services and eye surgery.
DR KABELO SEBOGODI
Dr. Kabelo Sebogodi is a skilled and dedicated ophthalmologist who obtained his medical degree in 2010 from the University of Pretoria. He completed his internship at the prestigious Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in 2011, where he gained invaluable hands-on experience in various medical specialties. In 2013, Dr. Sebogodi served in the general outpatient department as part of his community service at FH Odendaal Hospital in Limpopo. He then transitioned to the hospital's ophthalmology department, where his passion for eye care and surgery began to flourish.
Dr. Sebogodi's career in ophthalmology truly began to take shape when he joined Steve Biko Academic Hospital in 2016 as a registrar in the Ophthalmology Department. During his time there, he honed his expertise in both general and subspecialty ophthalmic care. In 2019, he was awarded Fellow status by the College of Ophthalmologists of South Africa, a testament to his commitment and expertise in the field. The following year, in 2020, Dr. Sebogodi completed his Master of Medicine (MMed) in Ophthalmology, further solidifying his knowledge and clinical capabilities. Among his many achievements he is also a graduate of the Thessaloniki International Vitreo – Retinal Summer School in Greece.
In addition to his academic and clinical achievements, Dr. Sebogodi has also worked as a consultant ophthalmologist at Witbank Hospital, where he contributed to improving the quality of eye care for the local community. His diverse experience and extensive training have equipped him with a well-rounded skill set to manage a variety of ophthalmic conditions.
Dr. Sebogodi is currently a practicing general ophthalmologist with a particular passion for surgical intervention. He enjoys working in the operating theatre, where his precision and expertise shine, especially in the area of vitreoretinal surgery—a subspecialty he has developed a strong interest in. His dedication to providing exceptional care, combined with his ongoing pursuit of professional development, ensures that his patients receive the highest level of eye care available.


DR MAANDA MABOGO
Dr. Maanda Mabogo is an accomplished and committed ophthalmologist with a specialization in oculoplastic surgery. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Cape Town in 2010 and went on to complete her postgraduate training in ophthalmology at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (formerly known as MEDUNSA). Dr. Mabogo further refined her expertise in orbital and ophthalmic plastic surgery through a local SASOPS (South African Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons) accredited fellowship at the renowned Groote Schuur Hospital.
Dr. Mabogo is actively involved in advancing the field of ophthalmology through leadership roles within several prominent medical organizations. She is an executive committee member of Women in Ophthalmology South Africa (WOSA), the Ophthalmology Society of South Africa (OSSA), and has previously served as an executive committee member of the OSSA Young Ophthalmologists (OSSAYO).
Passionate about continuous professional development, Dr. Mabogo consistently seeks opportunities to enhance her expertise. She has participated in numerous professional development courses both locally and internationally, including those at the European School of Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO) and the Brighton Endoscopic Lacrimal, Orbital and Periocular Flaps Course.
Dr. Mabogo’s clinical interests lie in the management of thyroid eye disease, periocular orbital tumours, and a range of other oculoplastic and orbital conditions. In addition to her specialized skills, she has significant experience in managing general ophthalmology conditions and is proficient in performing cataract surgery.
With a commitment to patient care and surgical excellence, Dr. Mabogo is driven to provide innovative and personalized treatments for her patients. Her dedication to advancing both her practice and the field at large underscores her role as a respected figure in the ophthalmological community.
